Golf: Carnoustie Golf Photos
Carnoustie golf photos allow people to own a glimpse of early golf history by owning a picture of one of the worlds oldest golf courses. Writings have been found from the 16th century that refer to Sir Robert Maule playing the game of gowf near present day Carnoustie. The areas on which golf games were played during these early days do not resemble golf courses of today and were not designated for golf use alone but apparently did involve some amount of wagering.
Around 1839, the job of creating a 10 hole golf course was given to Allan Robertson by the Carnoustie Golf Club. Tom Morris had the duty of extending the course to 18 holes in 1867. People who learned the game of golf at Carnoustie held as many as an estimated 150 professional golf club posts in North America between 1898 and 1930. This was quite an achievement for such a course.
I have seen some great Carnoustie golf photos of some of the early years of this golf course. In comparing pictures from 1885 to 1901, there is an incredible increase in the number of members associated with this golf club. Pictures of various holes show the appeal that has brought golfers to this wonderful course day after day for well over 100 years.
Choosing Carnoustie Golf Photos
Since there are so many great Carnoustie golf photos available, it would be very difficult to pick just one to purchase. You may have to make a list of the handful of pictures you would like to add to your collection of golf photos or to start your collection. Some say that golf in Scotland is golf as it should be, and these pictures reveal why.
